DAY 1. ARRIVAL

Upon arrival to Tocumen International Airport, you will be greeted by a Panama Great Adventures representative and transferred to your hotel in Panama City.

DAY 2. PIPELINE ROAD

6:00 am    Pick up at your hotel in Panama City.

Early morning pick up and transfer to Soberania National Park. Pipeline Road is one of Panama’s birding hot spots. Expect to see Slaty-tailed / Black-throated and Violaceous Trogons; Scarlet-rumped Cacique; Blue-crowned / Red-capped and Golden-collared Manakins; Crimson-crested / Cinnamon / Lineated Woodpeckers; Semiplumbeous Hawk, Collared Forest-Falcon; Snail Kites, Jacanas and  Rufescent Tiger-Herons, among varios dozens of species you will be able to watch, on a guided full day birding trip.

We will have  box lunches at noon.

Afternoon  transfer to your hotel.

DAY 3.  SOBERANIA NATIONAL PARK

Located at  Soberania National Park, this area is one of the "hot spots" on the east bank of the Panama Canal Corridor; it is located at the southernmost part of the Soberania National Park, only a 30-minute drive from Panama City. It contains semideciduous forests and it also features the Summit Ponds.

Boat-billed Herons, Capped and Agami Herons are rare to see, Mangrove Swallow, Lesser kiskadee, 

Lance-tailed Manakin, Rosy-thrush tanager, Dusky Antbird and White-bellied Antbird, Royal Flycatcher,

Crane Hawk, Pheasant Cuckoo.

Afternoon transfer to Sierra Llorona on the Caribbean slope.

DAY 4. ACHIOTE ROAD

An early start will put us on the way to Achiote Road on the Caribbean side of Panama.  Achiote is the site of the famous Christmas Bird Count held by the Panama Audubon Society each year, consistently exceeding 340 species in a 24-hour period. Probably one of the best spots to search for diurnal raptors.

We will cover Achiote,  El Trogon Trail and the surrounding areas,  where you can expect to see the Spot-crowned Barbet, Black Hawk-Eagle, Brown-hooded Parrot, Pied Puffbird, Gray-cheeked Nunlet and White-headed Wren, Rufous-crested Coquette, Black-bellied Wren, Montezuma Oropendola, Fasciated Antshrike, White Hawk, Yellow-rumped Tanager, Red-breasted Blackbird, Gray-headed Kite, Bay Wren,  Olivaceous Flatbill, Chestnut-backed Antbird,   Plumbeous Hawk, Bicolored Antbird, and several species of trogons, like Violaceous Trogon, White-tailed Trogon, and Black-throated Trogon–among others.

DAY 5.  SIERRA LLORONA 

Early morning birding on  Sierra Llorona Lodge, 975 ft above sea level on the Caribbean slope. Here you will find some Foothill Tanagers, such as Sulphur-rumped Tanager and Rufous-winged Tanager.  At the Lodge gardens are many hummingbirds, and at their  private trails you will find Syristes, Olive-striped Flycatcher, Olivaceous Flatbill and more. Sierra Llorona is an excellent place to find  Crested Owl, Mottled Owl, and Black and White Owl. Common and Great Potoo sometimes call right  at the lodge gardens.

DAY 6.  METROPOLITAN NATURE PARK 

At this tropical forest park, situated in the middle of the city  we will look for birds such as the Rosy Thrush-Tanager, Lance-tailed Manakin, Pheasant Cuckoo, White-necked Puffbird and Yellow-green Tyrannulet that thrive in a drier habitat.

Afternoon  flight to Chiriquí high lands and transfer to Boquete.

(or Hotel in Panama City if you choose the 6N/7D program. Next morning transfer to International Airport for departure).

DAY 7 – FINCA LERIDA

Birding around Lerida´s private reserve, an excellent habitat for different species like the Resplendent Quetzal, Three wattled Bellbird, hummingbirds, Blue throated Tucanet, and  more.

Afternoon at Lerida´s gardens.

DAY 8 – BAJO MONO

Today we will be birding at Bajo Mono, which is part of the Baru Volcano National Park and only 2 kms away from the lodge. Here you will be looking for Long tailed Silky - Flycatcher, Black -faced Solitaire, Buffy Tuftedcheek, Ruddy Treerunner and more highland endemics. 

Afternoon transfer to Bambito.

DAY  9 – QUETZAL TRAI

These trail is part of the Talamanca Mountain Range, montane forest and nice species such as Silvery-fronted Tapaculo, Yellow thighed Finch, Collared Redstart, Flame throated Warbler. Lets continue to Aguacatal, at the base of Baru Volcano red headed barbet, White trhoated spade bill, Golden browed clhorophonia, White winged tanager, barred  forest falcon. Certainly a great place to see birds in Panama.

Back to the lodge at approx. 4:00 pm.

DAY 10 –  VOLCAN LAKES  / PANAMA CITY

These are two small ponds surranded by low montane forest and shade coffee plantations. Fiery-billed aracarí, Ruddy foliage-gleaner, Elegant euphonia,

Scarlet-thighed dacnis, Scintillant hummingbird,,White-throated thrush, Silvery-throated tanager, Flame-colored tanager. Bran-colored flycatcher, Masked yellowthroat.

After lunch transfer to David to board the afternoon  flight to Panama City.

DAY 11 – DEPARTURE

Transfer form hotel to Tocumen International Airport.
